RSM Andman & Nikobar Meeting Held

The meeting of the Office bearers and the members of the Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh was held on 7 March at the Model School Auditorium. Delivering the keynote address the National Organising Secretary of the Association. Mahendra Kapoor said that the Right to Education Act should be implemented systematically, taking the steps on priority basis. He said that there are many schools in the Islands which do not have the basic Infrastructure to ensure the quality Education for the Students. The department should ensure these facilities at each school at the earliest. Elaborating the philosophy of association, he said that “Education for the Country, Teacher for the Education and Society for the teacher is our motto”. Earlier welcoming the guest, the President of the Islands Unit of Mahasangh Mrs. Manju Nair said that the association will continue to conduct camps for the issues like Women Empowerment etc. The State Secretary, Shri Lokesh Kumar explained about the various activities being conducted by the association. He said the association will take up the issues related to the School Education at the appropriate level. During the conference various issues were discussed in detail. Apart from RTE the participants expressed their views on the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation System also. It was felt by the speakers that the Department has not taken any initiative to evaluate and review the system so far. Another point of attraction was the need of filling up of the vacant posts of different categories. There are posts which are kept vacant for the last many years. It’s been more than 2 years since the North and Middle Andaman District has come up. but still no District Education Officer has been posted. Among the other points which were discussed were Exemption of Children Education Allowance. ISDA, Complete SCA and Transfer Allowance from the income Tax, Granting ISDA during Summer Vacation, Indis criminate implementation of transfer policy for teachers, Headmansters, Vice Principals, Principals, DEO, EO and Assistant Directors, Choice posting on promotion for all the teaching staff due for retirement, Posting to Key posts should be strictly according to Seniority.
